Verve ’24 Sports

Hockey

The Women’s Verve Hockey match was held on the 11th of March 2024 at Endpoint. The first match was between the KMC Falcons and KMC Warriors in which the Falcons won (5-0). The second match was between the KMC Wolves and KMC Warriors in which the Wolves emerged victorious (2-0).
With this, the KMC Falcons and KMC Wolves advanced to the finals which took place on the 16th of March in which the Falcons took the trophy winning with a score of 4-1.
The Men’s Verve Hockey Match was held on the 12th of March at Endpoint, followed by the finals at the MIT Hockey Field on the 15th of March. In a fierce series of matches between the KMC Wolves, KMC Falcons and KMC Warriors, KMC Falcons came out on top. The tournament was organised by Yash Dixit, Sanya Narang and Tanishq Joshi.

Badminton

The Verve badminton matches were held on March 15th and 16th, 2024, at the marena badminton courts. 

In the Boys’ singles final, Dipen Omer (4th year) defeated Pranav Ashtekar (2nd year) in a close match. Puneet Hepta (2nd year) came in at a well deserved 3rd place

In the Girls’ singles final, Janavi Sudhir (2nd year) defeated Sneha Vinod Upadhyay (2nd year) in a thrilling win. Simran Bhadauriya (3rd year) and Ananya Agarwal (3rd year) tied for the 3rd place 

In the Boys’ doubles final, Pranav Ashtekar and Ujjwal Agarwal (2nd year) defeated Manik Tandon and Akshat Sinha (3rd year) in a hard-fought match.

In the Girls’ doubles final, Janavi Sudhir and Sneha Vinod Upadhyay (2nd year) defeated Yashvi Kudrigikar and Mokshita Monga (1st year) in a convincing win.

The event was organised by Dipen Omer, Simran Bhadauriya and Ananya Agarwal. The tournament was a great success, and participants and audience alike enjoyed themselves. 

Table Tennis

On 17th March, the finals of Table Tennis took place between Team Clubs(2nd years) and Team Spades( 4th years). The participants from the Team Clubs were Swayam Arora, Dhruv Sachdeva, Sahith Dalgur, Saad and Afaq Ahmad and the participants from the Team Spades were Arunabh Sisodiya, Pranjal Gupta and Ayushman Kashyap. Each team comprised of three players and two substitutes. 

After a long battle between the two teams demonstrating exceptional agility and control and showcasing lightening fast reflexes and strategic play, finally the Team Clubs, that is, the second years, won the match and were declared winners. 

Athletics

On March 17th and 18th, a range of Athletic events were held.

The winners of the track events were the following:

-100m Boys: Shreyas Wagle (2nd year),

-100m Girls: Kenneth B (1st Year),

-1500m Boys: Jashwanth N (1st year),

-200m Boys: Shreyas Wagle,

-400m Boys: Ayan Sahni (2nd year)

The winners of the field events were the following:

-Shot Put Boys: Dhruv Singh (2nd year),

-Discuss Throw Boys: Shreyas Wagle (2nd year),

-High Jump Boys: Shreyas Wagle (2nd year),

-Long Jump Boys: Jashwanth N (1st year)

The overall results were the following –

Best Athlete Male: Shreyas Wagle (2nd year), Best Athlete Female: Kenneth B (1st year)

In this year’s edition of Verve, KMCs annual inter batch battle, participants fought for gold in the various swimming events. Different formats of events were distributed over two days 18th and 19th of March. 

On day 1,

33m Backstroke men 1st place won by Ayan Sahni (2nd year), 2nd by Lakshay Agarwal (2nd year) and 3rd by Pratyush Chauhan (2nd year).

33m Backstroke Women 1st prize won by Eesha Kharade – 2nd Year, 2nd prize by Kanika Rana – 1st Year and 3rd prize by Jiya Khubber – 1st Year.

33m Butterfly Men 1st prize by Ayan Sahni – 2nd Year, 2nd prize by Jivesh Gupta – 3rd Year and 3rd prize by Pratyush Chauhan – 2ndYear

33m Breastroke Men 1st prize won by Ayan Sahni – 2nd Year, 2nd by Pratyush Chauhan – 2nd Year and 3rd by Jivesh Gupta – 3rd Year.

33m Breastroke Women 1st prize won by Navya Gupta – 4th Year, 2nd by Eesha Kharade – 2nd Year and 3rd by Kanika Rana – 1st Year.

66m Freestyle Men 1st prize won by Ayan Sahni – 2nd Year, 2nd by Lakshay Agarwal – 2nd Year, 3rd by Pratyush Chauhan – 2nd Year.

66m Freestyle Women 1st prize won by Navya Gupta – 4th Year, 2nd by Eesha Kharade – 2nd Year, 3rd by Jiya Khubber – 1st Year

On day 2,

33×4 medley relay mixed 2nd years won the gold with 4th years stealing the silver and 3rd years getting the bronze.

33×4 Freestyle relay mixed, 2nd years came first, 4th years second and 3rd years third.

33m freestyle men, 1st prize won by Ayan Sahni(2nd year), 2nd prize Ayushman Kashyap (4th year) and 3rd prize Lakshay Agarwal (2nd year).

33m freestyle women 1st place won by Navya Gupta (4th year), 2nd by Arshia Sangwan (4th year), 3rd by Anushka Acharya (3rd year).

33m butterfly women 1st prize won by Esha Kharade (2nd year) and 2nd by Shreeka Prakash.

33×4 individual medley men 1st place by Ayan Sahni (2nd year), 2nd by Pratyush Chauhan (2nd year) and 3rd by Lakshay Agarwal (2nd year).

33×4 individual medley women 1st place by Navya Gupta (4th year), 2nd by Shreeka  Prakash, 3rd by Eeasha Kharade (2nd year)

Overall winners were 2nd years and Runner ups were 4th years.

Volleyball

As part of Verve 2024, the volleyball finals for girls and boys were held on the 23rd of March at Sharada Courts. The finals saw two teams head against each other in a show of athleticism and fortitude. The final matches were highly anticipated as the players had fought through multiple playoffs and the following victors emerged:

Tennis (Men)

On the 24th of March, the Men’s Tennis sporting event was held. It was a hard contested event, but we have some winners; in Men’s singles, Aryan Maan (2nd year) came 1st place and in Men’s doubles, Keshav Garg and Aayushmaan Rathee (4th year) came 1st place

Squash

As a part of Verve 2024, athletes of varied backgrounds and experiences converged in the Squash Court. The rhythmic thud of the ball against the walls echoed the intensity of the competition, while spectators were held spellbound by the awe-inspiring display of talent and skill. As the matches unfolded, winners emerged across both the men’s and women’s categories. 

Of the 12 participants in the former, the winners were:

The women’s category with 8 participants declared the following as participants:

Basketball

As part of Verve 2024, the basketball finals for girls and boys were held at Sharada Courts on the 27th March. The teams that made it to the finals played with fervor and pride as they represented their batches. The results were announced as follows:

Runner ups- 4th years

KTPL

KTPL or KMC T20 Premier League is heralded as KMC’s favourite cricket tournament. 

With 3 captains participating in an auction in a bid to choose the ultimate team, students from 1st to 4th years and even TIPS were part of the grand auctions held. 

This year, along with the men, the women also got a chance to showcase their mettle. 

Men’s KTPL had 3 teams:

KMC Lykans captained by Raghav Pareek, KMC Olympians captained by Abhinav Singh and KMC Aces captained by Ayushman Rathee

The 1st match was held between the Lykans and the Aces, which was won by the Aces by 6 wickets. The player of the match was Ayushman Rathee. 

The 2nd match was held between the Aces and the Olympians, which was won by the Aces by 6 wickets. The player of the match was Dr. Anirudh Venkatesh. 

The 3rd match was held between the Aces and the Olympians, which was won by the Aces by 6 wickets. The player of the match was Dr. Madhav Arora. 

The 4th match was held between the Lykans and the Olympians, which was won by the Olympians by 2 wickets. The player of the match was Dr. Swaroop Shetty. 

The 5th match was held between the Lykans and the Aces, which was a tie. The player of the match was Pratham.

The 6th match was held between the Lykans and the Olympians, which was won by the Lykans by 50 runs. The player of the match was Dr. Vinod Nayak. 

The 7th and final match was held between the Lykans and the Aces, which was won by the Aces by 5 wickets. The player of the match was Yuvraj Gautam. 

The tournament was won by KMC Aces and at the end of the season, a few additional awards were given:

Best bowler- Dr. Vinod Nayak

Best batter- Rishi 

Overall most valuable player- Ayushman Rathee

Best fielder- Ankur Sparsh 

Women’s KTPL also had 3 teams:

KMC Phoenix captained by Bhargavi Arora, KMC Mavericks captained by Cheshtha Vyas and KMC Thunderbolts captained by Vanshika Sharma

The 1st match was held between Phoenix and the Thunderbolts, which was won by Phoenix by 9 runs. The player of the match was Akanksha Nigam. 

The 2nd match was held between the Mavericks and the Thunderbolts, which was a tie. The player of the match was Mokshita Monga. 

The 3rd match was held between Phoenix and the Thunderbolts, which was won by the Thunderbolts by 10 wickets. The player of the match was Mokshita Monga. 

The 4th match was held between the Mavericks and the Thunderbolts, which was won by the Mavericks by 40 runs. The player of the match was Ekta Khandelwal. 

The 5th match was held between Phoenix and the Mavericks, which was won by Phoenix by 4 runs. The player of the match was Chestha Vyas.

The 6th and final match was held between Phoenix and the Mavericks, which was won by Phoenix by 7 wickets. The player of the match was Bhargavi Arora. 

The tournament was won by KMC Phoenix and at the end of the season, a few additional awards were given:

Best bowler- Chestha Vyas

Best batter- Mokshita Monga

Overall most valuable player- Bhargavi Arora

Best fielder- Omanshi Aggarwal
