SPORTZQUAKE 2024

Day 1

Day one of Sportsquake 2024, The General Quiz, took place on 15th November at Interact lecture halls.  The quiz proceeded in two stages: a Preliminary Round and a Final Round, which consisted of three distinct rounds. The top 6 teams from the Preliminary Round advanced to the Finals based on their scores. 

Amongst the 30 participating teams, after a well-matched struggle, the winners emerged as follows: 

🥇1st Place: Dr Annappa Kamath & Dr Nitin Pai

🥈2nd Place: Venkatrangan Balaji & Swastik Goutam Tripathy 

🥉3rd Place: Dr Pavan M Bhat & Dr Joseph Thomas

The quiz was hosted and presided over by Mr. Sanjay KR; a retired IT professional, decorated quizzer and experienced quizmaster in the local quizzing circuit. 

The registration fee was put entirely towards charity, bolstered by generous additions from members of the Mangalore Quizzing Foundation. In this lay the true reflection of the success of the event.

Day 2

The official annual collaborative event between KMC’s Sports Committee and Social Welfare Committee, Sportsquake had its second day today on the 16th of November 2024. An action-packed day, filled with many activities including futsal, cricket and a wide array of informal games.  

The Futsal tournament, held at KMC Greens, kicked off the day’s events, with intense matches that saw Nemesis emerge as the champions, while AIIMS Nigeria put up a strong performance to finish as runners-up. Following this, the cricket tournament at Sharadha Court saw Tendonitis take the top spot, with Boda Sheera finishing as the runner-up. Basketball 3v3 matches continued on from day 1.

In the evening, from 6:00 to 8:30 PM, the informal games took place at Sharadha Courts. These games included a variety of fun and engaging activities such as Strongman, 3-point shots, Free Throw challenges, Dodgeball, Pen Fight, Lemon Spoon Race, Sac Race, and Dog and the Bone. These informal games were a wonderful way for participants to showcase their skills in a relaxed and entertaining environment.

The event was a resounding success, combining sportsmanship with charity, and brought the community together in support of a great cause.

Day 3

Day three of Sportsquake was a thrilling showcase of athleticism and team spirit, drawing an energetic crowd of players and spectators. The air was filled with cheers and encouragement as the day unfolded with exciting competitions across basketball, futsal, cricket, and informal games..

Across all the events, the players demonstrated outstanding sportsmanship, and their performances were nothing short of impressive. It was a day that highlighted the passion and dedication of everyone involved, leaving spectators eagerly anticipating the next round of competition.

Day 4

The thrilling display of teamwork and cameraderie was strong as ever on day 4, the final day of Sportzquake. 

The court was an arena of fierce competition in the Basketball 3v3 showdown, in which the Shafi Shooters claimed the winner’s title with their stellar gameplay and exceptional teamwork. They fought hard to win over the formidable KSBC team, who gave their all to secure the runner-up position.

On the field of Cricket 6aside, the Tendinitis team dominated with their strategic brilliance and sharp batting, winning the championship. The spirited Boda Sheera team gave them a tough fight, earning the runner-up spot. 

The Tug of War was a fun and friendly engagement where clubs and societies from across the college participated. It was a celebration of unity, strength, and team spirit, with no winners or losers, just pure enjoyment and camaraderie.
