The Film Crew organized a movie screening for the famous Malayalam movie ”Premam” on September 9th in the Interact halls, which was shown with English subtitles. The movie had a huge cultural impact when it was released back in 2015 and has attained cult status over the years.
It was organized to grace the auspicious occasion of Onam.
146 people had signed up for the event across MAHE universities; this is a record for the number of registrations received, proving the movie’s unique place in the hearts of the masses. Even though most of the audience members had already watched the film, it did not budge them away. The hall thronged with people who turned up for on-spot registrations. Some even arrived half an hour late with their pals to beat the weekdays’ blues.
The film was well-written, edited, and beautifully shot. Its beautiful songs, especially ”Malar”, have been etched in the audience’s memory. The incredible performances by both Nivin Pauly and Sai Pallavi will not be forgotten by the audience for eternity.
Many people laughed at the jokes and lip-synced to the songs. They again fell in love with the lead pair’s chemistry. At the same time, they munched away the popcorn and clapped enthusiastically over the brilliant lines. The constant cheering, relentless hooting and infectious guffaws made it a precious sight to behold.
The movie’s dialogues, acting, songs, and the impact it left on the audience are indelible. It is associated with not only the feeling of love but also heartbreak. The approach it took to romance feels fresh even after so many years of being released. It feels like a breath of fresh air, no matter how many times you rewatch it.
Towards the movie’s end, a group of the audience turned on their flashlights. They swayed the flashlights in the air giving the entire movie experience a concert vibe.
The night was a medley of unfettered laughter, invisible tears, and sweet snippets of memories hoarded in those three hours.
Spoiler Alert: Watching this movie will leave your heart full of ”Premam”.
