Cutting Edge began the new term with a highly anticipated workshop, IV, IM & SC, designed exclusively for first-year students. This workshop, which focused on teaching essential medical skills, had over 120 participants spread out over two days, on the 10th and 11th of February 2025.
The first-year participants were divided into six groups, each consisting of six students, ensuring personalized attention and focused learning. Each group rotated through different stations to gain practical experience in three key areas: intravenous (IV) insertion, intramuscular (IM) injection, and subcutaneous (SC) injection. Members of Cutting Edge, led these stations, teaching injection techniques, potential contraindications, and the critical aspects of biomedical waste management.

Emphasis was placed on providing students with the practical skills they would need to confidently administer injections. The workshop not only covered the necessary procedures but also gave the participants plenty of opportunities for hands-on practice.
The workshop was held in two slots over both days, utilizing the Clinical Skills Lab, which was teeming with first-year students eager to learn their first surgical skill. The space was filled with energy as the students practiced and refined their syringe-wielding abilities. The annual IV, IM & SC workshop was a fantastic way to kick off the academic year.
