COUNCIL HANDOVER 2025

On the resplendent evening of 9th June, 2025, TMA Pai 3 was dazzling with students in dapper suits and gorgeous sarees as they attended the Student Council Handover for the term 2025-26. A serene prayer marked the beginning of the event, sung by Surabhi Anaspure. Next followed the lamp lighting by the Dean, Dr. Anil Bhatt and Associate Deans Dr. S.S. Prasad, Dr. Naveen Salins, Dr. Vinod K Nayak and Dr. Ranjitha Shetty along with the former Student Council President, Ms. Arundhati Kulshreshtha and the current Council President, Ms. Medha Chatterjee.

The ceremony, emceed by Dhun Paliwal and Arnav Narayan of the Literary Committee, was host to moving speeches and indelible words. The first speech was that of the Dean, Dr. Anil Bhatt, in which he highlighted the achievements of the former Student Council and praised their remarkable efforts and expressed a desire to see the new Council reach even higher skies.

Next, the former Student Council President, Ms. Arundhati Kulshreshtha passed on the symbolic scroll to Ms. Medha Chatterjee, the current Council President. The associate deans then proceeded to distribute the badges to the newly appointed executive council member and faculty advisors. After this, Ms. Arundhati Kulshreshtha was invited to the stage to give a speech, and her beautiful words moved everyone’s heart. She expressed her gratitude to all who had stood by her and highlighted how this position helped her grow as a person immensely.

This was followed by the oath taking ceremony, in which the newly elected council vowed to uphold their responsibilities honorably and make the present term a successful one. After this, Ms. Medha Chatterjee gave a heartfelt speech in which she thanked her friends, seniors and juniors who had stood by her and supported her throughout her journey in the college. She also expressed her gratitude towards The Editorial Board for sculpting her into who she is today and being her second family away from home. She was followed by the Vice President, Mr. Vishran Shetty, who was taking over from Mr. Pranav Venugopal. He gave a moving speech about being motivated by his predecessors and promised to work towards a wonderful year. In a heartwarming show of familial affection, he called his mother on stage to share this memorable moment with him, the hall erupting in delighted claps.

Next came Ms. Rochana Jha, the General Secretary for the term, taking over the role of Ms. Bhargavi Arora. She applauded the Class Representatives of all the batches for their commendable efforts to ensure proper and smooth communication between the college administration and the students, and said she aimed to ensure an even more seamless flow of events in this term. The Joint Secretary, Mr. Sai Aashrith, taking over from Mr. Aashish Verma Kalidindi, expressed his gratitude to everyone who helped him reach where he stands today.

He was followed by Mr. Abhinav Raj, taking over the role of the Judicial Secretary of the Student Council from Mr. Akshat Hasjia. He gave a moving speech about upholding his responsibilities and helping the Student Council be the best version of itself. Post this, Ms. Medha Agarwal assumed the position of Treasurer, taking over from Mr. Sanit Kumar. She too, expressed her gratitude towards friends and family and pledged to uphold her role as the Treasurer impeccably.

This was followed by the newly elected committee heads taking over, eager and enthusiastic to lead their committees to greater heights in their term.

Mr. Tanishq Joshi, taking over from Mr. Shivam Mehra, as the Sports Secretary for the term, expressed his love for the members of his committee and his dreams of bringing in even more medals this term. He also especially thanked his hockey teammates and said the Sports Committee is more than just a second home for him.

In the Cultural Committee, Mr. Adhyatma Trivedi took over from Mr. Saatwik Sharma and said he aims to increase exposure and lead the committee successfully during his term.

Next, Ms. Janhavi Mohan took over the role of the Literary Secretary from Mr. Aseem Anand. She reminisced about coming to college as a wide-eyed, clueless first year student who was passionate about books and words, and thanked the Literary Committee for helping her grow into her niche and thrive in a passion she has always loved.

Next, Ms. Anusha Srivastava assumed position of Editor-in-Chief of the Editorial Board, taking over from Ms. Vaishnavi Singh. She thanked her family and friends, and the Editorial Board for giving her a lifetime worth of memories to cherish.

The Social Welfare Committee saw Ms. Vasundhara Choudhary taking over from Ms.Arundhati Iyer as the SWC Secretary. She mentioned the heartwarming memories and wonderful opportunities provided to her by her committee and pledged to lead her term to the absolute best of her abilities.

Finally, Ms. Shambhavi Joshi took over from Ms. Vanshita Kapoor as the Secretary of the Student Research Forum. She expressed a desire to take KMC’s research to higher levels and encourage more and more students to partake in this vital part of academic life, aiming to make research more accessible and understandable for the average medical student.

Every committee head concluded their speeches by individually naming all the members of their respective committee, which was then followed by a group photograph on the stage that witnessed smiles of pride and joy. The event ended on a high note with a speech by Mr. Vishran Shetty, the Vice President for the term, followed by a spread of delightful delicacies served for all.
