The morning of 8th May dawned warm and bright, with over 1000 people assembled outside the Edu building at 6:30 am. Fit-A-Thon, a run to spread awareness about breast and cervical cancer, was organized by MAHE in collaboration with FITVIB, KMC Manipal’s Fitness Club, as well as VSO and Manipal Runners Club (MRC). The race had 5km and 10km categories, along with a special 3km saree run in honour of our superwomen in sarees. Women of all ages and from all walks of life, including students and faculties, donned their nine-yards and made a dash for the finish line. The run was followed by a carnival at KMC Greens, in which numerous stalls were set up with refreshments and some home-grown retail therapy. The large central stage showcased performances by many groups including our own Music Club Cadenza, dance groups and dhol tasha artists. The air was alive with the spirit of sportsmanship and camaraderie as runners joined in the fun with dancing of their own. Fit-A-Thon was a wonderful way to celebrate women on Mother’s Day, and left everyone with a smile on their faces.
